This large New England granite ledge was deposited eons ago in our woods. As the glaciers covering New England melted, they left rocks of varying sizes, strewn around in random places. These rocks had been trapped within as the glaciers as they formed. Many became parts of our many stone walls dotting New England. This giant ledge and other smaller hunks of granite in the woods beside my childhood home became my playground once I was old enough to scramble onto them. Ship, plane and eventually spaceship it was this rock and others that fueled many hours, years of creative play from dawn to dusk. I paid it a visit today to say goodbye, she now belongs to someone else.
Our childhood house and the land that rock is anchored to no longer belong to Clark and me. The official closing was not smooth, the buyer's attorney was twenty three minutes late and a wire transfer came in with just five minutes to spare to allow the deed transfer to be recorded today instead of next Tuesday, the next business days due to Monday's holiday. BUT, we were able to happily transfer ownership to a young woman with her own dreams. She's still in Australia till the beginning of November, so her mother handled her paperwork and signing. We felt a great weight lift as the last signature was signed.
