It's been destroyed 4 times, so there's nothing original anymore. Good to learn more about the history of Okinawa, but don't expect to see original artifacts or construction.

Beautiful place to visit. You will be asked to take off your shoes so please take that into consideration if you visit.

Not wow but not too bad. There is a really nice walk beside this castle. You can see pretty Japanese houses there though it was a quite long walk until we could find a taxi.

旧琉球王城であり別称は御城。14世紀末ごろ察度が中山の出城として築城したとされる。15世紀から19世紀まで尚氏の居城であった。戦前は正殿などが国宝だったが、昭和20年 (1945年) の沖縄戦と琉球大学の建設のち、現在の建物は1992年に再興されたもの。2000年 (平成12年)【琉球王国のグスク及び関連遺産群】の一つとしてユネスコ世界遺産 (文化遺産) に登録されている。
